Standard colonoscopy offers no reliable discrimination between neoplastic and nonneoplastic colorectal lesions. Computed virtual chromoendoscopy with the Fujinon intelligent color enhancement (FICE) system is a new dyeless imaging technique that enhances mucosal and vascular patterns. Accuracy of CT colonography in the preoperative staging of colon cancer: a prospective study of 217 patients

Aim The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of computed tomography colonography (CTC) in the preoperative localization and TN staging of colon cancer. CTC can be an effective technique for preoperative evaluation of colon cancer and could facilitate the selection of high-risk patients who may benefit from neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Abstract Background Postoperative venous congestion can lead to graft and remnant liver failure in living donor liver transplantation. This study was designed to delineate ‘territorial belonging’ of the middle hepatic vein (MHV) and to identify hepatic venous anatomy at high risk of outflow congestion. Computed tomographic imaging of hepatocellular carcinoma

The ability of x-ray computed tomography (CT) to detect and characterize liver lesions has been one of the most studied issues in radiology during the past 20 years. Technological advances, combined with increased knowledge about the pathophysiological characteristics of these tumors, have dramatically increased the ability to detect and characterize large hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs). Nonetheless, detection and characterization of early and small HCC lesions remains a difficult task. We review the imaging appearances of HCC on CT and discuss the sensitivity and specificity of computed tomographic imaging in screening patients with cirrhosis for HCC.

Patient centring and scan length: how inaccurate practice impacts on radiation dose in CT colonography (CTC).

Objective: The aim of this study was to acknowledge errors in patients positioning in CT colonography (CTC) and their effect in radiation exposure. Materials and methods: CTC studies of a total of 199 patients coming from two different referral hospitals were retrospectively reviewed. Spontaneous Symptomatic Common Carotid Artery Pseudoaneurysm: Case Report and Literature Review

Spontaneous common carotid artery pseudoaneurysm (CCAP) is rare but potentially lethal disease. A 78-year-old man presented with pain in correspondence of right neck side and slight right eye ptosis. No previous surgery, trauma, or venous catheterizations in the neck region were reported. The computed tomographic angiography (CTA) showed a 4-cm saccular CCAP. The patient was managed emergently with surgical CCAP excision. At 6-month follow-up, the patient is neck pain-free with complete ptosis regression, and the CTA shows no pathologic findings. For the first time, a case is described in which an unknown corpse is identified by the comparison of antemortem and postmortem computed tomographic (CT) images. A posterolateral disc herniation at L5-S1 on the right side, Schmorl's nodes and a lucency in the ilium were found in identical locations in each case. CT Angiography at 24 Months Demonstrates Durability of EVAR With the Use of Chimney Grafts for Pararenal Aortic Pathologies

PURPOSE: To present the 24-month radiological follow-up data for patients with pararenal aortic pathologies treated with chimney and periscope grafts during endovascular repair. METHODS: Between January 2008 and December 2011, 124 high-risk patients with complex pararenal aortic pathologies were treated using the chimney technique at 2 European vascular and cardiovascular centers with advanced experience of the described technique.
